About
I am a PhD student examining the relationship between communication patterns and group processes in information diffusion through an online community.
I’m exploring the social networks of virtual world Second Life, which displays social properties reflective of offline social life.
Because it’s digital, I can capture social interaction in ways which real life methods are unable to offer.
Using social network analysis and surveys, I intend to understand how the hardware of interpersonal ties effects the software of interpersonal interaction.
See my homepage for research, MySpace for me, Flickr for images and the Social Simulation Research Lab for me in-world.

Hi Aleks – it’s Richard Edwards here. Been trying to contact you for a while about your work when somebody just forwarded me this link to your blog. Very nice it is too! Don’t know if you’re interested in the opportunities I mentioned in my other attempts at contact (did you get the emails?), but if not then no worries and sorry for bugging you
If you are, though, let me know and we’ll take it from there!
All the best,
Richard
Love the blog. I’m a PhD student myself, also studying Internet social media, and was wondering if you wanted to do a link exchange on our blogrolls. I think are topics would complement each other quite well. Please let me know.

Hi Aleks,
Just a note to say thanks for the talk at dConstruct; I got a lot out of it. As a web developer interested in social psychology, any pointers on reading list, etc?
Cheers,
Dan
